So… I finished my book!

So I finished my book. Woo! Great, huh?

Well yes. I’m quite proud of it, actually. But the hard work isn’t over. Now begins the journey towards publication.

My book is called Who the Hell is Noah Vale?. Here’s the short summary I wrote in the cover letter:

Who the Hell is Noah Vale? is an original urban-fantasy novel about a man who hears voices in his head. Noah takes care of his physically disabled father, and even in the best of times he struggles to get through every day in one piece. When his niece disappears without a trace, and his sister claims she never had any children in the first place, Noah is forced to wonder if something real has happened, or did he just lose the little piece of sanity he had left.

It’s been along road, getting from there to here. Noah Vale was born during the time I was full-time carer for my father, from 2009 to 2014. Much like Noah’s father, my Dad had a brain tumour, and when they removed it he lost all the movement on the left side of his body, so I had to care for him 24/7.

Prior to this time I wrote strict fantasy. Dragons, magic, the whole thing. But it never really felt right. Something was missing, and I didn’t know what it was. After taking care of my father, I realised the element that was missing was reality. The concepts I was writing about were too far removed from myself. With Noah Vale I tried to get back to home. Noah is much like myself. In fact, the book is half based on my life, half fictional. I still have the supernatural elements there because, hey, that’s what I like. But I tried to be much more honest and real, and it just worked so much better than anything else I’ve written. It still took me quite a while to get it to a finished state, but I’m happy with the result. Noah Vale is a great book and I can’t wait for everyone to read it.

So I’ve officially begun sending it out to publishers and agents. God knows how long this could take, but I will defiantly keep everyone up to date. It’s an exciting journey but I’m looking hopefully forward to the future.
